DOB: 27/9/54
Live: Redwood Park, SA
Married and have two children
I played active competitive sports including cricket, basketball, mixed netball, golf and recently ten-pin bowling.
As I grew older (into my late 30's) cricket, basketball & mixed netball disappeared as my health failed. I was an insulin dependent diabetic from age 14 and at age 39 my kidneys finally gave in so dialysis began so golf also stopped.
I have been very fortunate to have received a double organ transplant (kidney & pancreas) in November 1995.
I wanted to start another sport; ten-pin bowling became the one.
After being involed in a car accident in 2005 complications from vascular problems in my right foot resulted in a below knee amputation in May 2006.
Since the amputation I have reurned to ten-pin bowling and am starting golf again.
Thanks to the dedication of Gary Hart, my interest in golf has returned and with the coaching available I am sure that the interest will continue.
I urge any amputee in SA to contact Gary and become involved in the First Swing Golf Clinics.
Come on give it a go and enjoy yourself!
